Things went fast in 2016 and 2017 promises to be an even bigger year for the daycare!
2016 already proved to be our break-true year and made us the most popular daycare in town.
Past year we had to increase our capacity with 6 more spots to reach the lawful maximum amount of spots for our location. It already proved to be very difficult to get a free spot in our daycare but from now on it will become necessary to reserve your spot way in advance.
Currently we are already full until February 2018. We are now receiving about ten new applications a week. This results in a new milestone in daycare history in Belgium.
From now on it will be necessary to apply for a spot before actually being pregnant.
That's why we will start to offer a new kind of contracts. These contracts do not have a fixed start date. For new applications, please check the website and apply trough the contact form.
When the new daycare emerged on the current premises, the entrance was shared with the entrance of the owner's private house. This made entering and leaving the daycare a real hassle. At the busiest hours, people sometimes had to wait outside because the entrance only fitted 2 people at the same time.
Our daycare is well known for it's quality and modern facilities. This is why we decided to develop a new entrance and dining room. We made sure the setting would add something positive to the daycare.
As a result we added a very open construction wich consists of top to bottom windows and give an easy in and out to the childrens garden in the summer. Construction works are about to finish within the next week. We will present the newest addition to the daycare with a small reception on the 14th of january.
Starting today we would like to welcome Charlotte. She will be the newest addition to our team.
In September Don left the daily operations to pursue a degree in International Business Management. Because of this we had to look for a new employee to work in the daycare. Between September and now, Don has been replaced by Marleen who agreed to help us out for a couple of months.
Charlotte has 5 years of experience as a store manager in a clothing department store. This makes sure she is used to having to deal with big responsibilities. Before this she graduated as a nurse with a specialisation in children. Charlotte is the proud mother of 2 children. Both went to our daycare.
We are sure Charlotte will fit in perfectly in our corporate structure. The daily operation of the daycare will continue with Chrissie, Sonja and Charlotte. Don will continue to take on the administration.
For the first time ever we offered the parents of our daycare to attend a course about language development for their children.
We organised this course together with students from the Artevelde University college in Gent. The students who major in speech therapy had to develop this presentation for their bachelor task. They offered us to present this course to the parents of our daycare.
The course took place in the evening immediately after the daycare closed. About twenty parents attended the course. The course informed us about every aspects of language development in every stage of a child's live. From newborn to young adult. We would like to thank everyone for participating.
Because of the big succes, together with Artevelde University College we decided to do this more regularly. In march we will be offering a CPR for children course. Everyone interested in this can apply by mail.
Last week we celebrated Halloween at the daycare.
We decorated the daycare and all the employees dressed up.
All the children dressed up aswel. We had some babies dressed as a little ghost, some toddlers dressed as a witch and we even had a Frankenstein.
Our morning activity was making Halloween pumpkins. At the end of the day, they could take the pumpkins home.
During lunch we ate pumpkin soup. The soup was made together with the oldest infants.
In the afternoon we had a small puppet show. For this we used puppets the children made a week ago.
Next year we will try to make something that we can donate to the organisation behind the Halloween Walk in our town.
